7,000 homes block visits from the TV licence enforcers

Growing numbers taking advantage of legal loophole that means they can threaten to sue collectors for trespass. Legal loophole allows licence fee dodgers to beat BBC enforcers. Customers can remove 'implied right of access' from their doorstep. This allows them to sue collectors for trespass if they repeatedly visit. So far more than 7,000 homeowners are thought to have used the trick

Consider mass fluoridation of water, says health body

Adding fluoride to water should be considered by councils in England to improve dental health, the government's public health advisory body says. Public Health England urged councils to act after reviewing the impact of water fluoridation on children in areas where it has been introduced. About 6m people - 10% of the country - currently live in areas with fluoridated water supplies. PHE said it was a "safe and effective" public health measure.

But a spokesman for the National Pure Water Association said health chiefs should concentrate on alternatives, such as better dental hygiene, to improve teeth.

UK's future climate to be all sorts

British winters are likely to become milder and wetter like the last one but cold spells still need to be planned for, says the UK Met Office. Summers are likely to be hotter and drier, but washouts are still on the cards, it adds. The assessment of future weather extremes finds the role of human influence is "detectable" in summer heatwaves and in intense rainfall.

As the report's authors themselves readily admit, the British weather varies so "hugely year to year due to natural processes" that detecting trends is tough, and detecting a manmade fingerprint even harder.

The report makes clear that global trends do not necessarily apply to Britain. For example, it says that while there are connections between climate change and dry seasons in some parts of the world, "there is currently no clear evidence of such a link to recent dry periods in the UK." (written by David Shukman, Science Editor).

Meanwhile, James Delingpole on Breitbart reports Global Warming Will Not Cost the Earth, Leaked IPCC Report Admits. Previous reports - notably the hugely influential 2006 Stern Review - have put the costs to the global economy caused by 'climate change' at between 5 and 20 percent of world GDP. But the latest estimates, to be published by Working Group II of the IPCC's Fifth Assessment Report, say that a 2.5 degrees Celsius rise in global temperatures by the end of the century will cost the world economy between just 0.2 and 2 percent of its GDP. If the lower estimate is correct, then all it would take is an annual growth rate of 2.4 percent (currently it's around 3 percent) for the economic costs of climate change to be wiped out within a month. This admission by the IPCC will come as a huge blow to those alarmists - notably the Stern Review's author but also including everyone from the Prince of Wales to Al Gore - who argue that costly intervention now is our only hope if we are to stave off the potentially disastrous effects of climate change.

Sir Nicholas (now Lord) Stern was commissioned by Tony Blair's Labour government to analyse the economic impacts of climate change. Stern, an economist who had never before published a paper on energy, the environment, or indeed climate change, concluded that at least two per cent of global GDP would need to be diverted to the war on global warming.

Stern's report has been widely ridiculed by economists, whose main criticism was that its improbably low discount rate placed an entirely unnecessary burden on current generations. Even if you accept the more alarmist projections of the IPCC's reports on "global warming" the fact remains that future generations will be considerably richer than our own - and therefore far more capable of mitigating the damages of climate change when or if they arise. But Stern's Review, published at the height of the global warming scare, was seized on by policy makers around the world as the justification for introducing a series of economically damaging measures, including carbon taxes, more intrusive regulation and a drive to replace cheap, efficient fossil fuels with expensive, inefficient renewables.

This is why Lord Stern has been variously described as "the most dangerous man you've never heard of" and been held responsible for some of the worst economic excesses of the green movement.

Malaysia says there's sealed evidence on MH370 that cannot be made public

A Malaysian team have told relatives of Chinese passengers on board the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 that there was sealed evidence that cannot be made public, as they came under fire from the angry relatives at a briefing on Wednesday.   The sealed evidence included air traffic control radio transcript, radar data and airport security recordings. The briefing at the Metropark Lido Hotel in Beijing focused on UK satellite analysis which led Malaysia to conclude that flight MH370 ended in south Indian Ocean, off Perth. The Chinese relatives were told that a five-member high-level team from Malaysia plans to brief them once every five days. During the question-and-answer session, a relative said: "Thanks for demonstrating your ability to read every word out of the powerpoint slides."

Another asked: "If the info is from UK satellite firm Inmarsat, does it mean the Malaysia team cannot answer our questions on the MH370 analysis?"

Faced with the barrage of questions from the angry relatives, the MAS team replied: "We can answer but we might not be correct as we're not the investigators".

They said Malaysia had requested for the British experts to join them for the briefing in Beijing but the latter declined.

Comment by Lawrence Hill - Malaysian Airlines, who are in financial struggles, are so dismayed by the official line, since it just about leads them into bankruptcy, leaks information to show that the plane diverted from its route to assuage claims of mechanical/human failure. Conclusive evidence shows the plane flew for five hours in completely the wrong direction, and its communications devices were switched off by professionals - it didn't go dark due to an impact. No-one can find any concrete evidence of wreckage, bodies etc. American intelligence confirms the plane was hijacked. After 17 days Malaysia's government simply states, to paraphrase, "British data experts have confirmed the plane disappeared at a specific point over the Indian Ocean, all lives have been lost," without attempting to explain the diversions in flight path (the first of which was a U-Turn back to Malaysia, then heading into the Indian Ocean far away from any landing sites.)

Comment from AM Cary on Flight MH370.The date that the plane was reported to have gone missing 8.3.14 just so happens to be the date that an event is celebrated called Purim. On this day, Moses (M) finished his review of the Torah which included the keeping of Halacha (H) which is the law. The review had taken Moses 37 days (37) and was also published on this same day in 1482 after it had been translated by Onkelos (0)... Coincidence? MH370? The event commemorates this day with daily thoughts and study. it is the day before the death of Moses. The Torah is analogous to water, one of the thoughts for this day states "obstacles evaporating into thin air" and one of the daily studies talks of burnt sin offerings. one of the psalms read n this day include in chapter 37, " Yet he has vanished, behold, he was gone, I searched for him but could not find him" the date that it was reported that wreckage had been spotted but it was not possible to carry on because of bad weather on the 24.3.14 also has a link that states that "Those that go down to the sea in ships who perform tasks in might waters, he spoke and caused storms".

Why I've ditched statins for good

As experts clash over proposals that millions more of us take statins to prevent heart disease and stroke, a vascular surgeon explains why he feels better without them. GPs are, by definition, generalists. They don’t have time to read and analyse data from every paper on every medical condition.

Even so, in a recent survey by Pulse magazine, six in 10 GPs opposed the draft proposal to lower the risk level at which patients are prescribed statins. And 55 per cent said they would not take statins themselves or recommend them to a relative, based on the proposed new guidelines.

David Cameron: British public do not want referendum on European Union 'right now'

The Prime Minister claimed that voters were happy to wait for a say on Britain’s place in the EU until after the general election, when the terms of membership may have changed. He made the comments after a poll suggested that Nigel Farage of the UK Independence Party triumphed over Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, in a live debate over Europe. Mr Farage has called for an immediate in/out referendum on EU membership. Mr Clegg’s Liberal Democrats say a referendum should only be held in the event of a major new EU treaty. UKIP on Thursday declared victory in the debate between the two men, claiming that the public also want an immediate referendum.

A snap YouGov poll for the Sun of people who had seen the debate suggested a firm Farage win with 57% to Clegg's 36%. Another 7% said they did not know. The Ukip victory was even more decisive among Conservative voters, by 70% to 26% in favour of Farage, a result that will bolster UKIP's argument that it has become the leader of the Eurosceptic movement in the UK.

Energy boss warns of blackouts as competition probe 'stops investment in power plants'

Sam Laidlaw, Centrica chief executive, said it would now have less "enthusiasm" for investing in new power plants needed to keep the lights on, as an "inevitable consequence" of regulator Ofgem's decision to call for a full Competition and Markets Authority probe into alleged profiteering. Ofgem referred the sector to the top watchdog after concluding the firms had raised electricity and gas prices to unjustifiably high levels, leaving millions of consumers out of pocket.

94-year-old is gagged by secret court: Draconian order silences pensioner in row with council social workers

A frail pensioner of 94 is being barred from speaking to the Press in a draconian ruling by the Court of Protection. The former NHS midwife has been gagged after staging a street protest and lodging a petition at Parliament, complaining about her treatment by social workers. She was silenced this week, despite begging the judge at a Court of Protection hearing to stop social workers from Redbridge, North-East London, meddling in her life.

Standing up from her wheelchair, the pensioner, who can be described only as Miss G, bravely told Mr Justice Cobb at the hearing in London: ‘I am quite capable of speaking for myself. I know what I want and what I need. I am in my right senses. I don’t what them (social workers) to cross my gates or come to my house. I want to be left alone by these people.’

The controversial gag, which could last her lifetime, flies in the face of demands by the top family court judge Sir James Munby for more openness in the shadowy Court of Protection, allowing those appearing there to speak out and complain about their experiences. His comments marked a victory for the Mail, which has campaigned against secrecy in the family courts.

Russian Government Officials Dump iPads Over Spying Fears

Russian government officials have swapped their iPads for Samsung tablets to ensure tighter security, the telecoms minister told news agencies on Wednesday. Journalists spotted that ministers at a cabinet meeting were no longer using Apple tablets, and minister Nikolai Nikiforov confirmed the changeover "took place not so long ago." He said the ministers' new Samsungs were "specially protected devices that can be used to work with confidential information.  Some of the information at government meetings is confidential in nature and these devices fully meet these demands and have gone through the strictest system of certification."

Max Keiser reveals 911 trading put-options

On The Alex Jones Show on Wednesday 26 March 2014, Max Keiser revealed that new information concerning the exploitations of put-options just before 911, including stocks in American Airlines and United Airlines, will be revealed in the book “The Death of Money – The Coming Collapse of The International Monetary System” by James Rickards, which will be published by Portfolio Penguin on 3 April 2014. The full details will be revealed in a forthcoming Max Keiser video. The 911 report was wrong, and there was indeed insider trading. Some of them were so psychopathic they actually died while doing the trades, leaving some unclaimed accounts with over $5 million in them.
