The Flattening Forces of Globalization Continue to Advance

Scott Tips: The European Union (EU) began adopting a strategy of pushing through bilateral agreements to create an international network of trade agreements that would essentially substitute for the World Trade Organisation and cover all sectors involved in trade.

Negotiations sprouted up like weeds leading to, among other things, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations between the United States and the EU as well as the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) negotiations between Canada and the EU.

The TTIP alone will cover over 50% of the World’s Gross Domestic Product and over 600 million of the richest consumers. It is concerned with two major topics: tariffs and regulations. And of the regulations, these principally concern health, safety, the environment, and financial security.

I have previously written about Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a misnamed “free trade” agreement described by many as nothing more than “NAFTA on steroids.” (See NewsWithViews, September 2012, at http://www.newswithviews.com/Tips/scott116.htm). Well, consider the TTIP as the TPP’s Atlantic twin brother. Coupled with the global Trade in Services Agreement (TISA), the TPP and the TTIP will define and fix international trade in goods and services, creating a common, tariff-free market for them, for a very long time and for more than a billion people. These three trade agreements alone will reshape our World in ways that we may not see for a decade or more.

Can Vitamin C Cure Ebola?

At risk or worried about Ebola? This is what you should do. Vitamin C is the primary antioxidant in the diet. Most people do not take enough to be healthy. While this is true of many nutrients, vitamin C is a special case. Ignore governments telling you that you only need about 100 mg a day and can get this amount from food. The required amount of vitamin C varies your state of health. A normal adult in perfect health may need only a small intake, say 500 mg per day, but more is needed when someone is even slightly under the weather. Similarly, to prevent illness, the intake needs to be increased.

The intake for an otherwise healthy person to have a reasonable chance of avoiding a common cold is in the region of 8-10 grams (8,000-10,000 mg) a day. This is about ten times what corporate medicine has tested in their trials on vitamin C and the common cold. Ten grams (10,000 mg) is the minimum pharmacological intake; it may help if you have a slight sore throat but more (much more) may be needed. To get rid of a common cold, you may need anything from 20 to 60 grams (60,000 mg) a day. With influenza the need might be for 100 grams (100,000 mg) a day. Since it varies from person to person, and from illness to illness, the only way to find out is to experiment for yourself.

Low-calorie sweeteners found in diet drinks RAISE the risk of obesity and diabetes by affecting how the body processes sugar

  • Sweeteners under fire include aspartame - found in many diet drinks
  • Also saccharin, found in Sweet’N Low and Sucralose, found in Splenda
  • All three sweeteners made it more difficult for mice to process sugar
  • Known as glucose intolerance, this raises risk of diabetes and obesity
  • 'Massive, unsupervised consumption of artificial sweeteners must change'

Fats are now the good guys of health - they even protect against diabetes

Fats in our diet have been the bad guys for years—but not anymore.  In the past year or so, scientists have discovered they don’t cause heart disease or artery damage, and now a new study has found they help prevent diabetes.

People who eat eight or more portions a day of high-fat dairy products have a 23 per cent lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes, the ‘lifestyle’ form of the disease. Dietary fats seem to affect glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity, the two processes that are associated with diabetes, say researchers from Lund University in Malmo, Sweden.

Research Reveals How Sugar CAUSES Cancer

A groundbreaking new study, uncovered by one of our volunteer researchers at Greenmedinfo – Jonathan Middleton – is the first of its kind to identify sugar, not only as  fuel source for an already existing cancer, but as a primary driver in oncogenesis – i.e. the initiation of cancerous characteristics (phenotype) within previously healthy cells.

Published in the Journal of Cliinical Investigation and titled, Increased sugar uptake promotes oncogenesis via EPAC/RAP1 and O-GlcNAc pathways, researchers addressed a common perception (or misperception) in the cancer research community regarding sugar's relationship to cancer: namely, "increased glycolysis [sugar based metabolis] is frequently viewed as a consequence of oncogenic events that drive malignant cell growth and survival."

Contrary to this conventional view, the new study "provide[s] evidence that increased glycolytic activation itself can be an oncogenic event..."

That is to say, the activation of sugar-based metabolism in a cell – driven by both the presence of increased quantities of glucose and the increase glucose receptors on the cell membrane surface (i.e. "overexpression of a glucose transporter") – drives cancer initiation.

Moreover, the study found that "Conversely, forced reduction of glucose uptake by breast cancer cells led to phenotypic reversion." In other words, interfering with sugar availability and uptake to the cell causes the cancer cell to REVERSE towards its pre-cancer structure-function (phenotype).

Statin Drugs Linked to Thyroid Cancer in Women

So, you have been told to 'lower your cholesterol' with drugs. But could it be causing cancer? A concerning new study published in the journal Clinical Epidemiology has found that "statin use is associated with thyroid cancer in female patients." Researchers hypothesised that in the presence of the female dominant hormone estradiol – a form of estrogen – statins are ineffective at exhibiting their long claimed 'cancer-protective properties.'

Another new study, however, also published in the journal Clinical Epidemiology, proposes that the problem lies in the immunosuppressive properties of the statin drugs themselves. Indeed, at Greenmedinfo.com, they have indexed over 25 different modes of toxicity within this drug class, with immunotoxicity figuring high on the list.

The reality is that the multi-billion dollar statin industry, invested as it is in promoting the concept that statins are anti-cancer agents, is guilty of publication bias, i.e., they only publish pro-statin studies and leave the negative or null finding studies in the wastebasket, even if it is highly unethical not to publish research that disproves their health benefits, or indicates their unintended, adverse effects.

Asthma inhalers restrict growth in children

Corticosteroid asthma inhalers restrict the child’s growth, especially in the first year after starting treatment.  Children taking the drug grow around half a centimetre (quarter of an inch) less a year than other children of the same age who don’t use an inhaler. Growth restriction is a problem common to all the popular corticosteroid inhalers, including beclomethasone and budesonide.

Scientists have suspected for years that inhalers restrict growth, but researchers at the University of Rio Grande in Brazil confirmed it when they analysed 25 trials involving 8,471 children aged up to the age of 18 years with mild to moderate asthma.  The average growth rate was between six and nine centimetres a year in children not using an inhaler, and was on average half a centimetre less among those who did. Growth problems seem to ease in subsequent years or if the dose is reduced.

In Vaccines We Trust?

Millionaire vaccine inventor and mandatory vaccine advocate Paul Offit recently released a short video for doctors on medscape. This statement outlines Offit's personal belief system, and could be a prelude to the legal removal of all philosophical and religious vaccine exemptions in the United States of America. This is something that Offit has been working toward for years, and the likely end-purpose of his series of books.

Paul Offit believes that exempting your child from vaccination is morally reprehensible. He considers himself an authority on autism, all infectious diseases, morality, history, every religious system, and infant immunology. You may also recognize Dr Offit as the one who says that all vaccines are perfectly safe and infants can tolerate theoretically 10,000 of them at once.

The status accorded to him by the pharmaceutical and medical fields permits him to influence the opinions and practice of lower rung physicians regarding vaccine exemptions. Unfortunately, even doctors will simply believe the "expert" without bothering to go and check their own medical literature, to see if the self-proclaimed expertise has a solid scientific foundation. Research shows that when people listen to the expert, the part of their brains that is capable of independent thought goes to sleep.

Revelation of High-Level Cover-Up Will Blow Lid Off of Vaccine Fraud

Bill Sardi: The lack of major news media coverage of possibly the biggest government whistleblower revelation since disclosure of the Tuskegee Experiment in 1972 [InfoPlease.com] suggests more than fraud at the highest levels of the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) as well as major vaccine makers, it suggests the nation’s news agencies are complicit in portraying a government view that there is no link between vaccination and the unexplained rise of autism.

Only alternative news sources are covering the story so far, which broke on 8 August 2014 when Brian S Hooker, a Simpson University researcher, published a report in the journal Translational Neurodegeneration that the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine was shown to increase the risk for autism 3.4 times among young black boys.  [Translational Neurodegeneration Aug 8, 2014]

Dr Hooker suggests the vulnerability of young African American boys to autism from vaccinations may result from their low Vitamin-D levels, given their dark skin pigmentation.  The prevalence of autism in African Americans is nearly 25% higher than that of whites. [PLos One July 12, 2010].

Father held in psychiatric unit for protesting against wi-fi in his children’s school

A father in Northern Ireland is being held against his wishes in a psychiatric hospital and forcibly given antipsychotics—while held down by hospital staff—because he has protested against wi-fi in his children’s school.

Stephen Clarke has been held at a psychiatric unit in Belfast for around 14 weeks since he mounted his protest against the use of wi-fi networks at his children’s school.

He was held under the Northern Ireland Mental Health Order 1986 after he protested against wi-fi in school by climbing a statue in Belfast and waving a white flag. He is in the middle of a custody battle with his ex-wife over the children.

Stephen is resisting medication because he is perfectly sane and well, and wishes to keep a clear head for the custody hearings.  However, hospital staff has refused to allow him to attend unless he takes the medication.

Ironically, Stephen would be considered perfectly sane in other EU countries, such as France, which have banned the use of wi-fi in schools because of their potential danger to the development of small children.

Police investigate electoral fraud probe in Glasgow

The Scottish referendum count was brought into controversy after reports of 10 cases of electoral fraud in Glasgow emerged.

Police at the Emirates Stadium in the Scottish city said they were investigating possible cases of double vote impersonation where people pretend to be someone else, cast a vote and then the real person later turns up to vote again.

Colin Edgar, spokesman for the Counting Officer, said: "What appears to have happened is somebody has arrived at the polling station and given their name and asked to vote. The polling clerk has gone to cross off their name and it appears that they have already voted, so what we did was contact the police straight away. The police asked us if we could recover the ballot papers which we can because we know which box they are in and we know the number of the ballot paper."

Police instructed counters to wear special gloves while handling the suspect ballot papers so as not to contaminate the evidence. He said enumerators were "on the floor working with police to find those ballot papers" in order to keep them "safe and secure so that they can form part of an investigation".

Social worker gloats on Facebook over breaking up a family and revelling in the 'massive rollicking' the judge gave the parents

Siobhan Condon, 41, bragged about the power she felt at breaking up the family and revelled in the judge giving the parents a ‘massive rollicking’.

She even referred to the solicitor in the case complimenting her ‘fine nails and shoes’ before saying she was about to ‘do the mammoth grim task’ of removing the youngsters from their home and signing off with three kisses.

The three children, all aged under ten at the time, were put into foster care following the court hearing last year. Their mother reported Miss Condon’s comments to Essex County Council after spotting them on the social worker’s Facebook page, which was open to the public and gave enough information to identify the family.

Anger after £130K child services boss at Rotherham council goes off sick

Head of children's services Joyce Thacker has faced fierce criticism over the systemic failure to prevent youngsters from being raped, beaten and trafficked by gangs of Asian men but has repeatedly resisted high-level calls for her to resign her executive position. Pressure increased for her to either step-down or be sacked after South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright finally quit on Monday.

But it has now emerged that career politician Mrs Thacker has been off work since Mr Wright's resignation was announced - denounced as a "fudge" by critics who called for the council boss to quit - or be sacked.

A spokesman for the Labour-dominated authority said the reason for her sick leave was "between her and her doctor". He added it was not known when she would return to work. Mrs Thacker has been under intense pressure since a damning report by Professor Alexis Jay last month exposed the sickening abuse of 1,400 children in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.

Not one of them knows what an Implied Right of Access is. The Great British Mortgage Swindle is a multi-layered and well-lubricated tool of tyrannical genocide and enslavement. Anyone who has not grasped that fact yet is simply not paying attention.

It is a long established fact of life that man needs shelter. So crucial is this to his well-being that maxims of natural law serve to remind us of that truth. All who trespass on the right of man to security of shelter are, by definition, not only putting the man at risk but also themselves on the basis that when one’s home and body is attacked that individual has every right to defend himself from the usurpers who step over the threshold.

Phones 4U founder Caudwell condemns 'ruthless' networks

John Caudwell, the founder of Phones 4U, has blamed the demise of his former company on the "ruthless actions" of "predatory" mobile phone networks. The retailer went in to administration on Monday, putting 5,596 jobs at more than 700 outlets at risk, after Vodafone, EE and O2 did not renew their contracts with the company.

This was an "unprecedented assassination", Mr Caudwell told the BBC's Today programme. The mobile firms rejected his claims. Mr Caudwell, who sold Phones 4U to Providence Equity and Doughty Hanson for £1.5bn in 2006, has called on the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to investigate the networks' actions. He suspects the companies may have colluded to remove Phones 4U from the high street in an attempt to reduce competition, but admits that he has no evidence.

U.S. National Debt Surges $1 Trillion in Just 12 Months

Nick Laird of Sharelynx has just reproduced a fascinating and timely chart showing the US debt limit, the actual US debt and the gold price all in one chart. From 2000 until around the first quarter of 2013, there was a very strong and close correlation between the growth of the US national debt and the rise in the US dollar gold price.

After Q1 2013 this correlation broke down according to the chart, wherein the US national debt continued to skyrocket and the US dollar gold price fell significantly. The end of Q1 2013 coincides with the smash down of the gold price in April 2013, which actually created a huge increase in demand for physical gold all across the world.

Looking at the huge divergence in the graph after mid-2013 between the continued growth in the US national debt and the drop and subsequent tight trading range for gold between $1,200 and $1,400, one can only conclude that gold is somehow being prevented from its previous job of accurately reflecting an explosive US national debt picture.

Ireland leaves eurozone behind as exports boom

Ireland's economy is growing at an explosive pace not seen since the glory days of the Celtic Tiger, setting off a scramble for Dublin property.

Finance minister Michael Noonan said GDP surged 7.7pc in the year to June as rising exports to the US, Britain and China transform the former crisis-state into the eurozone’s star economy, reaching “escape velocity” as the rest of the currency bloc languishes in a slump.

Gross national product — a better gauge of Ireland’s internal economy – grew by 9pc, an astonishing pace for a mature industrial state. The turnaround comes less than a year after Ireland regained economic sovereignty, the first of the eurozone bail-out countries to emerge from its EU-IMF Troika regime.

The collapse of the banking system in 2008 and the country’s €67bn (£53bn) rescue already seem like another age. The Irish treasury can now borrow for two years at an interest rate of -0.016pc, lower than for Sweden, France, Britain or the US.

Dublin house prices have risen 24pc over the past year, though they are still far below their peak and 135,000 households are still in arrears from the last crisis. The Irish Mortgage Holders Organisation said the city is once again in the grip of an “irresponsible property bubble”.

SaskPower ordered to remove all smart meters in the province

REGINA, CANADA – SaskPower has announced that they are removing all the smart meters that were installed in the province. The minister responsible for SaskPower Bill Boyd said the utility company will be taking out all 105,000 smart meters around Saskatchewan.

“I think the concerns about safety are paramount here, the concerns are significant enough, anytime families are at risk in Saskatchewan, actions have to be taken and that’s why we’ve directed SaskPower accordingly,” said Minister Boyd.

The removal of the smart meters over the next six to nine months will cost around $15 million, according to SaskPower. “We view it as similar to a recall situation and the people of Saskatchewan shouldn’t be responsible for the costs of this and we’ll do everything we can to recover those costs,” said Boyd.

Boyd will also be reviewing why the new meters weren’t properly studied or tested before they were installed in homes. Earlier this month SaskPower temporarily suspended its installation of smart meters around the province after half a dozen caught fire.

NEXT WEEK: Malcolm Massey of the UK Column, and a documentary film-maker, will join us on Doomwatch to discuss his film “Slaughtered on Suspicion – The Foot and Mouth 2001 Scandal” which will have its world premiere at the “Your Constitution – Your Health” conference.
